Galway Youth Orchestra was established in 1982 and is one of the longest-running orchestras in Ireland. It is also the oldest community orchestra in the West of Ireland, having grown and flourished over the years to become a significant musical institution in the region.

As a non-profit making organisation and registered charity, Galway Youth Orchestra has received generous support from Galway City Council Arts grants and GRETB youth grants.

The orchestra stages at least two public concerts annually, showcasing a wide range of musical genres, including symphonies by renowned classical composers, contemporary works, and compositions by Irish and modern composers. Galway Youth Orchestra has also participated in festivals, competitions, and collaborated with other orchestras, soloists and composers.

Galway Youth Orchestra has travelled to France, where it performed in Lorient and at EuroDisney Paris. The orchestra has also played in Estonia, the Czech Republic, Austria, and Spain. In addition, it has hosted concerts in Galway for visiting orchestras and choirs from across Europe and the United States.

The orchestra offers ensembles for all levels of players, ranging from beginners to advanced players aged between 7 and 21 years. All ensembles are directed by professionally trained conductors, and rehearsals are held every Saturday morning at Colaiste na Coiribe, Ballymoneen Rd., Galway.

Regardless of your skill level, Galway Youth Orchestra invites you to "Come Play with Us".
